Pre Dry Wall Meeting!

We had our pre dry wall meeting today with our PM. We met him at our home site and he walked us through the house, explained where all the electrical and plumbing rough-ins, power outlets placements etc were. He answered all our questions. Our PM also confirmed that the stuff that we spotted on the wood is not mold, and they'll clean all that up!
But we noticed something different with our attic space..... We had selected an upgrade which would make our 10x20 attic space load bearing with an access (full size) door as oppose to the regular access panel. We had talked but possible future expansion in this area. But the attic space we have now is not suitable for any expansion. Though its weight bearing, there are sloping frames (no head room) and this space is housing the 2 HVAC units. And there is no door! We have the regular access panel. Our PM said it's nothing different than what they were doing in other houses and he showed us his drawings, so I guess we need to sort it out with our SR or his Manager, cos we paid like $900 extra dollars for this.

We found out that our SR is on vacation for a week and my husband is trying to talk to his manager for 4 days now, about the master bath issue. Now we also have this attic issue to discuss. And our PM suggested we get with them ASAP! I hope we'll get to meet him this weekend.

Coming to the timeline, our PM said that there are few inspections we are yet to pass, so the drywall will take 3 weeks start to finish and we are looking at about 30 days after that! With that info, we should be able to close around 2nd week of August.

They started with our brick yesterday!! I was very nervous about our brick color but We like it!!!
Here are some pictures of our brick,  tub and shower...

  1. Hope you hear back good news on the attic issue. Maybe you can leverage it to get the shower you want

  2. I'm sure they'll be ready with some excuse or explanation and turn it as our fault! Now, I fear we are not even getting what we paid for!

  7. I see progress! I love your brick color and your tub doesn't seem small to me haha. I am sorry to hear about your attic issue, I hope they make it right for you. I do have to say.....3 weeks for drywall???? Wow. I wonder what my PM will say during my pre-drywall meeting tomorrow.

    1. Did you hear about your drywall? Our PM said 1 week would be for fixing few things and inspection etc, so next two week would be dry wall.

  8. We are going to close right around the same time!! I hope they get that attic issue sorted out, especially since you paid more for it and it wasn't just an empty promise. That tub and shower is the standard size, that's what we are getting too. It's not huge, that's for sure. our bathroom is pretty darn tiny too, I wish I could have made it more grand and taken away some of the master bedroom space (which is HUUUUGE), but oh well. I think it will be fine and I am the only one who takes baths anyway and I think it will be ok. But I'm sorry it's been a disappointment for you and I hope they have a solution! We did upgrade to the tile with listello so I think that may make it feel bigger since it's a glass enclosure instead of a wall there...maybe they can suggest doing that?

    1. I guess the tile upgrade changes the footprint alittle bit that why this is a problem. They'll have to move one frame about a foot. We'll see what they say.

  9. I am sorry you are running into this disappointment! I hope they sort it out. That is crazy about the drywall. Ours took a week start to finish! We close July 17th. Yet your home has much more space so that could be why as well. How exciting tho it's moving along!!
