I found out from my colleague and soon to be neighbor that our PM had quit! I stopped by the model today around lunch time to drop off some paperwork (yes that's today's excuse ;-)) and to find out more about the PM. It's our SR's day off, so this new girl (a new SR for the community maybe) confirmed that our PM is no longer going to work in our community, though he is still with Ryan. Weird that he should be sent to some another community when he has been handling so many projects here. I guess, we'll learn more from our SR, when he's back and if we'll ever get a status update! Now we'll have to wait and meet our new PM. I hope he'll be as good as our previous PM and this won't affect our timeline too much.
I also stopped by our house (of course) as there was a lot of action. It looked like a disaster zone with ditches dug up everywhere and crew was working on something, I have no idea about! So couldn't get inside but clicked few pictures as I saw shutters and some new stuff! Check it out.....

Pipe being laid in front of the house...no idea what's that for.... |
There's another pipe going to kitchen...could that be gas line? |
I don't really like siding on the fireplace! What do you think? |
The siding is a little different...
ReplyDeleteThe front on the other hand, is beautiful!!! I love the shutters and how dimensional it is - it looks amazing!!!
The model house has brick on the fireplace too and we weren't told about this at all. We were told that siding will only be on the floor like for the gables and dormer. I will bring this up when we talk to our SR, and I do love the front of the house so I decided not to stress on this one. We'll see what he has to say this time....
DeleteI agree with Caitlin. The siding is a bit different but the rest of the house looks great !
ReplyDeleteOh and our PM quit in middle of our construction as well but it all turned out okay, we actually liked our new PM better than the old one! I'm sure everything will work out great for you!
DeleteI hope so too. Can't wait to meet him!
DeleteWow its beautiful I love all of your brick and siding selections everything looks really great together.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nadine. How are things going with Chateau???
Deletelooks great! And I would certainly ask why they didn't brick the fireplace!
ReplyDeleteyep, I'm definitely gonna ask. But I'm also trying to stay calm on this one.
DeleteI am so jealous of all your brick. Sorry about your PM, but maybe the new one will be better.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too. :-|
DeleteLove the exterior colors! Your home looks awesome, especially with the brick not just in the front. The fireplace does stick out surrounded by all that brick, but at least it's in the rear so you'll only see it when in the backyard.
ReplyDeleteI guess! If they can't change it then, we'll figure a way to pretty it up a little!
DeleteThe siding is a bit different, but with a deck (if/when you build one) and some landscaping, I bet it will blend right in. Or at least, not be noticeable. Looking good!
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I was thinking! We are going to get a deck. I will ask our SR about it, if that's not changeable, I guess we'll have to be creative with it!
DeleteI loooooove your brick color. I think I told you this already. Lol! Your house is a beauty. It's a pity they didn't just brick up that fireplace. Wouldn't that have made sense??? But this is home building...no room for sense. :). I'm sure you'll be able to work with it if they can't change it. If you see any extra bricks laying around, grab'em!!
ReplyDelete:-) yes you have and I can hear it many times! :-) that's not a problem!!! Looks like they have good reason this time as HeavenlyHighgrove explained. Oh well!
DeleteHi! I just found your blog...we are also building in the Nashville area (in Spring Hill). Our community uses the Fox Ridge name...does yours actually go by Ryan homes?
ReplyDeleteWe have the same brick! Ours has been delivered, but they haven't started it yet, so I was happy to see your pictures. We also have black shutters and it looks like the same siding...is it called Sandy Tan? Your house looks beautiful!
Our community is also 4-sides brick, but the fireplaces look like yours do with the siding. I'm pretty sure there is a good reason they do that. My soon-to-be neighbor told me, but I wasn't paying attention as we aren't getting a fireplace, lol.
Hey! Glad you found us! Do you have a blog?! If not, you should start one, its fun and very helpful. Yes they go by Ryan Homes here, they are are same company entities.
DeleteOur brick is Farmington King, can't remember the siding name, but sandy tan sounds right! Our shutters are more like chocolate brown. You are pretty close, you should visit our community sometime.
My helpful blogger friends explained why they do siding on the fireplace, makes sense once you know the reason! Keep in touch....
Love the brick and still love this elevation. I believe they wouldn't be able to brick the fireplace now because there would be nothing below it to carry the weight of the brick. They actually had to modify our plans, and foundation to accommodate the brick. They normally cantilever the fireplace out about 2' for the firebox. This is sturdy enough for the fireplace and siding but would crack under the load of all that brick. You could do a faux brick/stone veneer... Why do they do it? Cost, of course.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what our SR explained to my husband when he called him. Thanks for explaining it, I could never have put it down the way you did!
DeleteBut what frustrates me is that, I particularly asked where all we would have siding and I was never told about this.
Looks fabulous!!! My PM said its an access thing for as to why the fireplace is sided instead of brick :) safety and access.
ReplyDeleteThanks S! Our SR said its the unsupported brick weight. Safety and access also could be good reasons!!
DeleteYes! It is because of the weight of the brick. We will have siding (Hardiplank) on the back of our house above the morning room for the same reason.
ReplyDeleteLooks really good. A classic example of why all brick homes are in a league of their own. Love it. Sorry.. this is funny I am reposting this post of the third time as the previous two had disappeared.. Funny thing is that every time I repost the entry is shorter by half. It started out half a page long, but who'd believe that? :) Beautiful house, and that's all that matters!
ReplyDeleteLOL. Ella, I did notice that because every time you tried posting a comment I got an email and when I visited the blog, your comment wasn't there!
DeleteThanks Ella! :-)
